Yesterday I seen some wonderful machines here in Tokyo, shoot 'em ups on three screens, liquid cooling for cpu (and graphic cards), and memory with digital read out of frequency and temperture on the simm.

Now, the liquid cooling part...though I've seen it inside the case in the UK - safe as it can get, I guess.....here they have external cooling devices, running liquid cooling pipes into the casing. Now any home with children is bound to have this interesting warm fan device knocked off of the top of the machine, and cpu/motherboard/case is going to follow. And if the dam thing leaks, the computer is F*cked. So why bother? Has anyone had any nasty experiences with liquid cooling yet? I saw the Xbox 360 Laptop online, and he had 'pads' to absord any leakage - which I don't think is good enough.

So is anyone aware that in telecomms we use Peltier coolers to cool down that $10,000 laser. So why not use them for the pc? Or just go with a huge heatsink?
Noisy liquid cooling system.

In liquid cooling, most people get non-conductive liquid
so even if it did happen to leak, it will not harm anything
all you have to do is turn off the computer
replace the tube
blow try the computer component and start it up again

and Peltiers are the stupidest things ever
use Phase Changers

External cooling devices work much better than internal though
and children, that is why you keep the computer away, close the door, keep the computer suspended.

oh and for the guy above me,
phase changing is not like a fridge, or a freezer for that fact
try 50 degrees C below a freezer
temps can reach in the negative 20 celcius even at full load and maximum overclock

You have to refill about every five minutes, because it goes up in steam! JUST KIDDIN'! Don't be hatin'! It's a closed system, so you just have to keep your eye on it. Maximum temp for the hottest running processor I know of, is around 78 Celsius (172.40 Fahrenheit) (AMD processor) Graphics cards get hotter than that! Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, so I think you'll be alright! Just check it often, and make a schedule so you'll know what the usage is. Why? Because every system is different. Depends on what hardware YOU have inside YOUR computer. Depends on how you max your system resources. Surfin the internet? Or a big time game player? See what I mean? Edit: Oh yeah! There is the leak thing! Better hope you don't spring a leak in the plumbing of this baby! There are refrigerated systems! Also dry ice! (Water, refrigerated, and dry ice are overkill! Not for the everyday, Slam-it-to-the-wall-> gamer!) I run a 120mm fan through a tuned port that blows directly on a massive copper heatsink. Heatsink is three inches tall, by three inches long, and three inches wide! The plate at the bottom is 1/4 inch thick, and the fins stick up from this. Sucker has to weigh 1 pound! HEAVY! Never had a cooling problem YET! lol!

almost everything is wright except "if the dam thing leaks, the computer is F*cked" cose there exist liquids that when(IFF) they leaked nothings gonna happen - they are not conductive like water. Miss that point while watching:):)What about a price of Peltier cooler?huh expensive. so what? well make a water cooling :) cheapest. Noisy? no way man today watter pump are soundless. That's why they sell it :)
Don't agree? Try it before speaking only by looking :):)

it isn't a step to far there are alot of good uses for it one is if you want to do some overclocking the cpu and gpu, wanting the computer to be quite the water cooling isn't noisy if you get a good one and keep it full of Liquid
and the inteanal ones are better if you have kids.there is Liquid that doesn't harm the board or any componets if it leakes on them.there isn't vary many times that there is a problem with water cooling if you are a gamer or overclocker than no it isn't a step to far.

Its only extravagant if you dont need it. Only using processors and graphics cards that run hot have any need of such technology. Ive never heard of a liquid cooling system leaking, so this shouldnt be a worry. If your home isnt stable enough to prevent your computer case from being knocked over, you shouldnt have one to begin with.

I think liquid cooling is just an extreme.... I view the desktop computer like an automobile, when you pop the hood, who are you going to impress... Sure, liquid coolers do function and keep the cpu very cool.... maybe even too cool.... I just think its "Bling Bling" for the computer.....And also for the "NO Kid or PET zone"

If you intend extreme overclocking or competition gaming Phase Change Cooling (works like a fridge) would be better.

Well,i don't think that it's a step too far.I think it's necessary as nowadays people use computers frequently.Liquid cooling works better than the normal fans.
