i was on antibiotic ear drops for two weeks and my ear infection actually got worse. my doctor then put me on cipro (antibiotic pills) of 500mg and ive been on them almost two weeks. but my ear infection is still horrible. i have not had any relief. plus since about a week before i first went to the doctor my hearing is gone. why will it not clear up?? anyone know anything that would help??
also, it bleeds on occasion. the doctor said that the eardrum isnt ruptured but it is damaged. and there is extreme pressure in it. any advise??? im in excruciating pain from this!

if the pain has become unbearable-then i would make a trip to the emergency room.

something seems off to me-your doctor didn't seem very concerned that your eardrum is damaged AND that your infection is not clearing up-he should have referred you to the ENT dr.

you need to be seen by someone within 24 hours whether it be an ent or an emergency room dr. i would not return to your family dr-he's not helping you. the bleeding indicates serious injury to your ear and that needs to be looked at asap

i'm sorry to hear your are in so much pain. i work in trauma icu and we use a pain scale here of 0-10 (zero being no pain at all and 10 being the worst pain you've ever had). if your pain level is at 7 or above-go to the er. you could suffer permanent hearing loss due to this

good luck to you

I had that problem one time and I couldn't hear out of one ear for about 3 months. I took several rounds of antibiotics and it would not get better. Then I found out I was anemic and started taking iron pills and everything cleared up. Have your doctor check to see if you are anemic.

You need to see an ear nose and throat specialist as soon as possible. I feel your pain. Earache is the worst!

You need to go to the ER asap rather than asking random strangers who are not medical experts.

Also find a different doctor asap, one who actually cares about your health.
