what happened to Rock music? It seems like since Rap hit the scene, all good music has ceased to exist! Where are the Def Leppards, the Megadeths, bands we idolized? Why is Rock no longer around and why is R&B, Rap and other Bass driven music so popular? I feel like I haven't bought a new album by a new Rock band in YEARS. Is anyone still rockin' out there?

I live in Northwest Florida and we don't even get a rock station here. Well, they call it a rock station and then play NSYNC.

Your radio station is full of shi!t!!! That much I understand for sure!! Radio is a total business and only tries to push certain things for a certain audience. The music scene has changed big time. If you really want great rock you have to look around and find it. You won't get much of it on the radio these days. However what is great rock to you, may not be great rock to others. Plenty of great rock bands out there today and there always will be. You just have to look harder today. Thanks to some early 80's rock bands who started selling out big clubs through their own promotion (like Motley Crue, Ratt, W.A.S.P. and Quiet Riot not that I really like them all but anyhow) the music industry started pushing glam rock to a decent degree and that changed the 80's music radio and MTV. Rap started doing the same thing in the early 90's especially (groups like 2livecrew,NWA, Ice Tea) so the industry road the bandwagon again. Now a days they have it mostly down to a business art and have all these prefab fake acts that have no real artistic integrity, it is just a bunch of older songs rehashed and changed ever so slightly into something suposedly new. In short they generally push garbage and their main aim is kids, because most little kids don't download and they beg Mom and Dad to buy, buy, buy!

I know what you mean! I love the music from the 80's and early 90's when the bands actually rocked like mofo's. There is nothing out there like that anymore so the only thing you can do is download all the sh*t you love and listen to it on your computer or burn some discs for yourself. That's what I do.

Def Lep on Ellen? That's as funny as idolizing Def Lep! People who hide behind the hysterical hysteria that is the mainstream, deserve no more than Def Lep, Megadeth, Metallica. If you search, you'll find so much more underneath.

Rock is pretty stale...especially at the moment. But there are still some kickass bands out there--check out wolfmother. They have a very classic rock vibe to them so they are reminiscent of the bands your talking about!

I just saw Def Leppard on the Ellen show on Friday, they re-released Hysteria and them and Journey just started a new world tour. They also re-released Pour some sugar on me, one of the greatest rock songs :)

R&B is great...u should try listening to it sometime! It popular because it's mainstream. People from everywhere listen to it. Rap and R&B artists are always going to other countries to perform on tour. They are well recieved there and the US as well...
