To what degree do you think the political correctness of the nineties still affects college campuses?

I had a Social Work teacher who was a real Marxist-Leninist feminist nutcase and he was a man.

As a sociology major i actually find it the most in classes which deal with race, ethnicity, gender and other minority issues. People seem to fall into one or two camps, people who are afraid to talk about things because they dont want to be labled as a bigot or people who think their bigotry is well founded as a response to akward pc rules. Although it certainly is necesary at times in our society, political correctness can breed more ignorance which can be difficult to overcome. I recognize a lot of the white privlige which makes up my worldview, but because i dont always know how to ask, i still dont understand as much of the non-white perspective that i could. Its the same type of thing for a lot of different minority groups being from the dominant group (and this is from a soc major who in theory should have a better understanding of minority conflicts and perspectives). I think for most people it just creates a fear of looking stupid which is too bad.
