I'm a crabber in CA, I drop nets off my local piers two to three times a week. I usually catch between five and twenty good sized rock crabs a trip. Can anyone give me info on how to set up a tank to keep some of these crabs live? I have a twenty gallon tank to use, and I've never set up any kind of salt water tank, so I'm starting from scratch. What I need to know is equipment needed(filter, airator, etc), salinity, amount of crabs that can live in a twenty gallon tank, etc. I've seen a few businesses that will keep thirty or forty crabs in a twenty to thirty gallon tank. Can that many be kept together? Any info would help, I can't seem to find any web sites that deal with live crab storage. Thanks!

Crab fattening is an essential activity for crab fishermen all over the world. better you develop a pen in the coastal area (pen = a semi closed wood made arrested boundary of the fattened crab, the woods shoul rooted long inside the mud to avoid escape of the crtabs by making burrows). In the tank culture you can place only one crab or two, because the crabs are cannibalistic nature, and have moulting immdiately shifted to the tank or capitivity. Hence you have to place a hide plae inside the tank. Physical factors are very essential for crab survival, hence I recommend you to develop a pen to maintainsea water salinity, temperature etc.

I bet those nice people at the fish store could help.

All I know about crabs is how to eat them with melted butter (which is probably not very helpful, huh?)
