Oh pure joy! These are opportunities to be an unterrupted observer of life. We do not all need to be 'out there' all the time - strutting our stuff and making ourselves stand out from the crowd. When time seems warped and you find yourself being swept along in a kind of weird wave of silence - don't try to understand it. Immerse yourself in such moments and enjoy the ride!

Not very often. I am a silver-haired, stately sized person who often gets around in a jet black wheelchair. Ignoring me is the equivalent of ignoring an F-5 tornado when I am not in the mood to be unnoticed.
I smile at people, and they smile back at me. I make eye contact and talk to people, just to let them know that I'm interested in them and their lives.
It's all about presence. . .if you believe that yours counts, then it will.

Yes I do. Not in the scenario you've given, but in a different circumstance. I HAVE to attend an important social function with my husband, I do and I'm pretty much ignored by everyone there, including him.

I feel way too visible to be invisible. For once, it would be nice to be part of the scenery. It can't be helped right now, since I have this thing in my head.

Never really thought about it. I wish about 2 inches of my hips were invisible. That'd be nice. Just make it invisible. Yeah, I like that.

I usually feel the opposite. I feel that people notice me when I'm walking down the street, that my presence is just felt.

I often feel invisible in stores (to store clerks) and to other drivers on the road.
