I am currently a nurse (and hate it). I've worked as a nurse for almost 20 years. I want to go back to school. I'm just not sure what to take. I love animals, nature etc. I like math and science. I don't want to work directly with customers/patients. I'm sick of hands-on care of people. I'm not an introvert, but I am just tired of taking care of people. My passion is gone for it. What does a thirty-something person go back to school for? I don't think it's logical for me to go to medical school or something like that, although the money would be NICE! I'd be forty+ when I was done. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

you could do a Biology or Chemistry major since they require a lot of math and to actually be good at that as well as science which you mastered since you have been a nurse. try something like Microbiology or Molecular Bilogy where you can work in a laboratory, analyze blood samples, etc. those 4 domains: Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology are what are in demand right now like hot cakes! i would give Molecular Biology or Microbiology a shot: you do not take of people but rather do something different-deal with DNA, genetics, and so forth...classes and courses that at some point you took! those careers are the mosr demanded out of the 4 and the pay is super great plus you can actually sit down and look under a microscope and do the things you did not do while being a nurse.

check with an advising center at your local college - they should have two tests that might help:

strong interest inventory
myers-briggs

these might give you a general sense .. .

then browse through the department of labor occupational outlook handbook to see what catches your eye.
