got to have a data base connectivity. i still have problems in designing the backend. pls help me with the programing part.
only users whose name is present in the database can access the site after their password check.

The simplest way is to use frontpage and the database driven website wizard this will step by step you through construction.

The other way is to use php and mysql on the server, look for preconstructed packages and download them - there are plenty of scripts to download
