It will arrive at its destination at 3 pm so it will cross paths with a lorries that leave before 3 pm ie the ones that leave the destination at 6am, 7am, 8am. 9 am 10 am 11, am 12 noon, 1pm and 2 pm ie 9 lorries and it will arrive just as the 10th one leaves.

It will meet no lorries for the first 4.5 hours, then it will finally meet the 6am Mysore lorry. Then every 1/2 hour after that it will meet the subsequent lorries. The last lorry it will meet is the one leaving Mysore at 3pm.

So if you count meeting the lorry that is just leaving you actually have *ten* lorries, though intuitively you'd think it would be nine.

The correct answer is 10 lorries.

Btw, have they finally finished the paving/construction on the Bangalore to Mysore road? It was crazy and scary driving on that road when I travelled to see Mysore Palace! There were lorries passing buses which were all passing a car or a cart. There were vehicles on both sides of the road heading toward us... and how come the drivers like to leave their lights off but only use them to flash each other when it is dark?
