It irritates me no end......and why don't they look happy?
They have that 'I've just sh it myself" expression on their faces. Agreed?

It is unusual, but the serious look is supposed to be "chique".
However, what bothers me the most, is the way they
walk, always putting the leading leg in front of the other, the
way an ice skater would! Strange, it causes a wiggle that is not
natural. But have it as they wish, I have stopped viewing these
presentations a long time ago. Neither you nor I can change their unusual habits.

The wealthy love it and that‘s what counts.

They are told by the designer how to look. They are doing a job, just like anyone else. High fashion designers think they're too cool, so they want their models to look like they're thinking that. There are big cards out the back that tell the models exactly how to look and move. Pony strut, glide, no hip sway, exaggerated hip sway.... it goes on and on. The designers take it VERY seriously.

They walk funny so that the clothing swings. Movement creates interest.

It's all a part of the show. It's an act, and people expect it. I love it. I can drive down the street all day and see normal looking people smiling normal looking smiles walking normal looking gaits. When I see a catwalk - I want the show!

according to my friend, models need to have a stern expression most of the time so that people actually focuses on the product itself and not the models. but of course at some occasions the models need to smile too!

Modeling for Funny Dresses need Funny Walk .... otherwise how can you expect normal person to wear such type of dresses!!!!!!
