The Roaring 20's!

2006-10-22 19:21:33 · answer #1 · answered by STONE 5 · 1 0

I'd probably choose the mid-Victorian period here in the United States. The Civil War has always fascinated me, and even though it was a terrible time in our nation's history, there were so many heroes whose lives I admire.

I think the hardships would be worth it if I could meet Abraham Lincoln or Robert E. Lee. They were strong leaders during a time when the country was in turmoil, and I would love to know about them first hand. Can you imagine standing on the battlefield at Gettysburg and hearing Lincoln saying, "Fourscore and seven years ago. . ."??

Just the thought gives me chills!

Tibet before China took over.... I'd try to keep it a free country by buying protection from the USA - since they don't do anything unless they are motivated ($$$).

Or I would have bought a cruise ship and smuggled a thousand Jews out of Poland before hitler took over.....

Or maybe Tennesee in 1962 and I would have had enough money to investigate the KKK and arrange for Judges to become suddenly very liberal.....

Very recent history. Preferably the future history. It would be really cool to be an oligarch in Russia right now. Yesterday is history isn't it?

The 1920s, just because of the easy going livestyle and the way people dressed, I've always wanted to dress like the women did back then. Also you can't forget about Moonshine. I remember my grandpa telling me stories about making Moonshine in his bathtub.
