the deal is that there was a calendar, back in pre columbian south america... probably mayan, but maybe even older... and it ends at a date that translates to our calendar as December, 21st 2012.

so, why doesnt it go any further? maybe because they knew the world would end that day? maybe because an alien visitor told them that he would blow up the earth that day to make room for a new hyperspace route? or maybe beacause they finally found that poor soul, sitting in a cave somewhere and pinning down one date after the other, and brought him back to the asylum?

no one knows. so yes... it is yet another doomsday theory. please dont be disappointed, when i looke dit up for this answer, i too thouhgth it was something interesting, or at least relevant.

but if you want my reading... the calendar runs to that special date because it is the end of a sun year. yule, or winter solstice. and why 2012? well.. why not? it had to end at some point. and 20212 is as good a time as any.why does Microsoft XP's internal calendar run to 2099? does bill gate know something too?

first research the concept. I first heard about this in the Book "The Mayan Prophecies'" By Adrian Gilbert and Maurice Cotterell. Since then I have found enough information to beleive that "something" is going to happen. How to prepare for global upset would depend on your location.
