That all depends on your provider, and your phone.

For example, I have a Nokia N70 mobile phone connected to the 3 network in Melbourne Australia. When I have full reception, I can acheive about 128Kb. Thats about basic dsl speed. Great for text and images, but you don't want it for downloads of any kind.

Some providers out there are providing 3G networks based on the HSPDA standard for 3G. This can give a connection of 14.4 Mb/s and is being trialed by Cingular in the USA, and also is the basis of Telstra's Next G network in Australia. From user tests here in Australia, Telstra reported an average connection of 505 killobits a seconds. Thats not bad, but they are purposely limiting the speed for now.

Good Luck, and check with your service provider
