I am struggling to find a real career that is a good fit for me. The careers that I want and find to be right for me all require Bachelors and Masters degrees with many years of work experience. I have been researching online and came across online degree programs that may or may not be a good option as to get a degree in less time. I only want to know, does online degree programs really work when getting a career that requires high degrees?

I will try to answer your question since I am enrolled in an online program now. If you can find your field of interest in an online environment, I would say to start off with it. Just make sure that the school is accredited. Then use that degree to get into the job market and let your employer do a tuition reimbursement plan to send you to a traditional college/university. That is what I plan to do. And just for reference, University of Phoenix is fully accredited. I am going there, and I did check into them. They are , however, somewhat limited in their choices. But they do offer associate, bachelor, master and doctorate courses. They are a university.

A few on-line degree programs are well organized and well taught. However, if this is the way you want to get a college degree, first find out if the institution in question has a really good program, or if it's just one of the many "diploma mills" that are giving the good schools a bad reputation.

I went through accredited university programs. It might take longer but your degree will be worth much more than just a piece of paper; and you'll be much more marketable, professionally.

You need to find a degree program that is an actual degree, none of that phoenix online stuff. Right now few schools teach accredited degrees fully online, but one very cool one does. Empire State College, located in upstate NY does teach full online degrees. You can do everything online. They offer bachelors as well as associate degrees. I'd start there, and call if youd like more information. Right now I'm taking classes to obtain my Bachelors in Business. It also happens to be pretty cheap in comparison to other schools... :)

It was a life safer for me, but be prepared to work hard. Go to www.esc.edu, and read more. I'd call, since the website is a little hard to navigate. And everyone there is really nice! goodluck!

PS - it happens to be a SUNY, youll be able to get a masters later if youd like.

My husband went to a trade school for Graphic Design. He loved it and it was much cheaper and much less time consuming...Good Luck!
