I think I would like to do try canning jams and jellies for Christmas gifts this year...Is this gift canned (or to avoid the pun "cheesy")? I would love preserves for Christmas but I haven't noticed anybody giving any in a very long time...thoughts?

Its a great gift idea....
Add them to a basket with crackers, fruit, bagels, etc. Maybe buy a couple of spreading knives and you've got a great gift idea for the whole family!!!

I think it's a wonderful idea!!! I think most people don't do it anymore because of the work involved. Now a days it seems like everything has to be fast, fast, fast.

I would love a gift of homemade jams or jellies or anything homemade for that matter. Think of the time some one spent to make a gift for you?? How generous of them!!!!

I think a home made gift is the best! I know my Mexican friend made a bunch of SERIOUS hot sauce and salsa to give as Christmas gifts to friends. I am counting the days for Christmas! lol

I make jams and jellies every year for Christmas presents. This year I also did zucchini relish and pickles and homemade salsa. My family really seems to love these and I enjoy making them tremendously. Have fun!

I give jars of jam to friends/family every xmas - everyone loves it, and the one year I didn't do it, everyone was upset with me! This year it will be cherry jam and orange marmalade.
