While this book does not mesh with what you are inquiring about, it is my favorite Nonfiction Book. Breaking the Surface - the Greg Louganis story is a heartfelt, touching, and at moments depressing view into the life of an olympian who lived in the shadow of two secrets... one, he is a homosexual and two he has been diagnosed with HIV. Rarely has the written word made me cry... and this is one of those rare gems.

I'm against hunting, except for survival, but I was captivated by Hemingway's 'Green Hills of Africa'. There's plenty more in it, than the hunt, even though, he takes you with him and you can actually feel his breath.
Though, it's not non-fiction,( it is plausible) you might check-out Earth Abides by George Stewart. You'll definately thank me, if you've never read it.
Also, check-out Twain's auto-biography.
