What do you mean by God?
If you mean an all-powerful, all-knowing, good being, I think that the suffering in the world is pretty good evidence of that being not existing. If you want to say that all humans deserve to suffer because of sin, fine then. But the problem of suffering in animals remains. A God that is good would not want there to be any unnecessary suffering in the world. A God that is all-powerful would be able to prevent that suffering, and a God that is all-knowing would know how to prevent it. Since animals lack free will, there could be no justification for their suffering. Their suffering is not necessary to teach humans any lessons, since the mere appearance of suffering would fulfill that role. Their suffering in order to survive is also not necessary because God could make them able to function well enough to survive without feeling pain. If humans can dope up animals with enough drugs so they cannot feel pain, then surely God could do likewise and still enable them to function and avoid danger. Robots can be programmed to avoid potential dangers without feeling pain. Insects avoid danger without feeling pain. The suffering of animals really seems to be unnecessary. If you believe in that type of god, then you really must admit that not a single instance of unnecessary suffering ever occurs. I think it is only too obvious that much human suffering is unnecessary, and if not, at the least animal suffering is unnecessary. If there is any unnecessary suffering, then it is proof that such a god does not exist.
If you are a deist, though, then likely you don't quite believe in that type of god. If you don't believe in an active god who is all powerful, all-knowing, good (and involved in daily life) then is it really such a leap to non-belief or to naturalistic pantheism? Your view of God is already a God that isn't involved in life. For whatever reason, the God of the deists stands back from the world. I don't see much of a gap between your view of god and a pantheist view of god. Does god have to be a conscious being? If he is, then why he allows for unnecessary suffering is a major problem. If he is not all-powerful, or all-knowing, or good then there seems, at least to me, to be little reason to believe in him. He may be conscious but is very limited. I'm not a psychologist, but it seems like a concept of god like that doesn't offer very much comfort. The appeal of believing in a conscious, but limited god seems minimal. If your idea of god is of god as not being conscious, but maybe as some sort of force, or even existence itself, then you are more of a pantheist than a deist.

This question contains three misconceptions and three misspellings. First of all, the word "atheism" means "a lack of belief in deities" - period (a=without, theism=belief in deities, deities being either gods or devils). The lack of belief cannot logically be called a belief, either. Atheists don't muddle their thinking with unsubstantiated dreams based on wishful thinking and the fear of death.
Secondly, the word "god" - like most theological terms - is undefinable anyway, so all this talk about belief and disbelief is premature and beyond pointless. In order to define a thing or a concept, you must have a way to distinguish it from other things or concepts. Many people say "god is everything" or "god is love" - but these don't help in understanding the concept since we already have the words "everything" and "love" to begin with!
Neither does saying "god is what created the universe" - this just adds to the mystery because now you've only moved the question back one step and are left with "what created god then?" Believers hate this one and never answer it, because they *can't*.
Don't confuse atheists with cynics, though. We have just as much of a sense of wonder as anyone else, perhaps more so with the conviction that it is all the result of natural processes. Given vast amounts of time, matter and energy can and do arrange themselves into marvelous things such as galaxies and living organisms. Trying to explain how it happened by simply postulating an unseen deity only cheapens the experience, in my opinion.

I don't believe in the big bang either my friend no-one can prove it... it's only another theory..and the endless debate of a
God's existence was like what people thought when they believed in Mythology and more simple ideas long before that...it has evolved over the years into the latest package for Deity
believers .... just examine the tenets that god created everything and is all good ...an apparent contradiction ..if god created all and god is all good and all knowing then he would be held responsible for creating evil as well think about that without any lame excuses or a perfect god creating this imperfect world or the bible full of human error and contradictions and lies is that the work of a god or men using manipulation to convert the( at that time) uneducated with fear tactics and miraculous allusions which they could not get a way with in the present day world one only needs to think reasonably with out gulliblity to begin to see the truth beyond our built- in biases.did god actually create the black plague and sundry other countless diseases or are scientific explanations more feasible ...God allow the killing and misery for innocent children or should we claim Zeus is responsible for whatever reason one might contrive ....?
If u read the writings of Carl Yung both psychologist and Biblical
Scholar, who was able to read original texts in Aramaic and Greek u might find the roots of pre biblical scripture amusing . check for yourself ...the first God was thought to have been married twice I don't remember if he was divorced or not but it goes on and on if u look in the correct places..... free will is one of my favorite lame brain arguements ..... shall I choose good or bad u would think that god would supply the fundamental intellect to know if we know then what happens to free will ? get the point ?wanna be rich today use you free will ooops doesn't work that way well how limited can free will get free becomes god awful costly does it not ? try unattainable much too often....! if there was an intelligent god these flaws would not occur! so think about it?

I was raised Catholic and have always put my faith in God. However, everyone comes across the thoughts of whether God exists. I mean, there's no hard concrete evidence that he really exists. Sure everyone will say the Bible and miracles that happen, but that's not good enough proof. Many people feel skeptical whether there is a God and that's fine with me. Athiests probably believe in the Big Bang Theory and I think it's an interesting theory and in fact possible. But enough of that stuff, just face it, there are going to be those who believe and those who don't believe in god(s). We all have all of our different ideas and beliefs.

You as a believer in God have accomplished something - you have caused yourself to believe in God. Somehow, you have crossed the threshold of disbelief and think God is real. No one is born believing in God. You see or hear or learn something or are raised with a teaching that suggests that God is real and not a fantasy. Then, at some point you thought of God as real or were told God is real and you believed that.
I would love to believe in God. However, since I don't think of God as real, I do not. You can truly only believe in things you think or feel are true.
Think of the struggle it takes to believe in God! God is described as this being you can't see, feel, or hear - you can only see, feel, or hear its actions which can be logically explained by natural phenomena or even the actions of people. If a person is starving and that person prays for food and a person gives them food, you see God helping them, not the person. However, I see the person helping them. If a terrible natural disaster like a flash flood occurs and you pray for people to survive and some unlikely person does, you see the hand of God. I see something else, like perserverance and the desire to survive being acted upon heroically by a survivor. A believer only sees God and no mundane explanations are believed. The belief in God hides the love of one human to another that causes heroism or charity, two of the things responsible for most "miracles." A non-believer sees the people or natural events behind "miracles" because they don't have the vision of God that obscures them. Perhaps this is why most religions hold people as inherently sinful - because all good actions are attributed to God's hand and all bad actions to man?
It is the believer that does something unusual - they are finding a way to cause their minds to believe the unlikely, the invisible, and the untouchable as real.
Explain to yourself why you don't believe in unicorns and you'll likely have the reason we don't believe in God.

It's simple..don't believe things without evidence.
There is just as much evidence for the existence of god(s) as there is for invisible blue trolls.
Saying that "GodDidIt" answers nothing and is not how we got out of the caves. If there is something that we don't understand, simply adding one(god) to the problem just makes the problem more mysterious and complex. Saying "GodDidIt" also keeps people from wanting to search for the real answers that science provides. As long as people think "GodDidIt" answers questions we will have one foot stuck in the dark ages.

first how can you be truly agnostic and believe in god
I'm agnostic truly I know not the answers of god
I don't 100% believe in god not that I'm sure he doesn't excist but it's pretty easy you just consider all possibillitys like that perhaps a parrellel universe began our universe and that universe has a god or maybe its a chain of creation of universes and it was started in a sphere and contiues but the mystery is great and the prize of discovery is unimaaginable
for one I know this I don't believe because in order to truly server man human kind if you will believeing there is a heaven is like attaching a 100 lb bag to my back it slows progress because if there is a heaven a beatiful after life and all I have to do to get there is behave then bosh and rubish to advancing mankind just sit lay about and be happy with what is here. but no afterlife means this must be heaven if there is none we must make this world the best world for our children for ourselves and for the beauty that is knowledge and the advancent of knowledge itself
may science act as a candle in the darkness that is religous bigitry ,nonethical thinking, and illogical prospects.
Lauren think before you speak next time that was ignorant you cannot possibly know the answers of the universe are you trying to say god created things like quantam physics, the theory of reletivity our general understanding of physics no humans did and perhaps humans created god
because right now we have god hasn't shown up and shook your hand has he ? no so as of know all things concepts like god the soul have been created by man so think perhaps they are all trivial I know you won't understand that but maybe it will get you to think maybe
think before you speak religion should be a believe not tripe covered in nonsense fed to the intellectually weak

by way of fact your asking an Athiests.the only ones who assume they no all.. in simple terms like Baptists Deny the Catholic church homes. i might say, do exactly no longer wastes a while asking this question by way of fact as a remember of actuality they don't have a real answer. the element approximately an Athiests is they're against God and each little thing Jesus Stands for in simple terms like the Antichrist and others who worship Darkness. Its a hassle-loose actuality given which you notice it on television and hear it on the radio standard. yet i might say this each time a individual tries to describe on an identical time as talking, those variety of people continually get mad and want to no Why? Why? Why? nicely its in view that there tells you they do no longer no squate approximately God or Christ. jointly with while it consists of the Bible. All im going to declare is this in case you want to be saved Then persist with GOD foot steps formerly the time of the top is in simple terms too late. now's the time to choose for which area you want. To persist with God and Believing in there's a heaven or persist with Darkness and stay in Torment for Eternity. Now with reference to the Beard In Greek Mythology and in the hot testomony and Greek Bible Zues is the God of Olympus in Greek he's the God of Gods, which he's refering to The God that's He...

Well, let me ask you some questions:
Why don't you believe in faeries? Santa Claus? Vampires? Unicorns?
Well, most would say because a) they're magical, so it's stupid to think they are real, and b) there is no proof or evidence that they exist.
Well, there isn't proof that they DON'T exist.
So, why don't they? If that logic points in FAVOUR of the existence of God while it just points to faeries, vampires, Santa Claus, and unicorns not existing, why is it that we interpret it so likely for God to exist?
That is why I do not believe in God. He is neither provable or disprovable, but it is so improbable for him to exist that everyone should consider him as impossible as Santa Claus.
