Ok... to many, people think war is bad, meaningless, and unecessary. Though war isn’t always meaningless. It's sort of like a double edged sword, with its pros and cons.... If war was unnecessary, then it would be pointless...

Regardless if right or wrong, there is usually a reason behind war and people would fight for that reason. War is never exactly 'good', but good things can happen as a result of war such as one's rights and freedoms.

I'm just talking about war in general, which is a broad subject...but yeaa... It all depends on one's perception...so what are your thoughts?

WAR IS HELL.

I personally feel that war is not a good thing just for the simple fact that to many people die who have done nothing wrong. You do make a good point that some good things come out of war like freedom but what about the war that is happening today. We already have our freedom and all the power we can ever want, so what are we fighting for? I know you are talking about war in general but I can't help to think about the poor people who lose there life to such a cause.

"Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passin' ? Gone to graveyards everyone. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?"
"How many times must a cannon ball fly, before they're forever banned?"
Can you guess what decade I was a young person in?
Nothing comes from war, a temporary boost to the economy, the securing of some resources that in a couple decades will either be used up, or outmoded, because we found another energy source. The grabbing of territory for the sake of having it, only to lose it decades later to the quest for freedom from the conquering nation's tyranny of it's native peoples. Think Iraq. Think India from the British.
Think about WWII. We entered the war to stop the war, we unleashed a super bomb to hasten the end of the war.Think about the consequences of that act, applied to today's news. Iraq, North Korea, and Pakistan may have that same super bomb. I imagine they will use it towards achieving world domination, not to stop a war.
My father served in Korea, and WWII, my older classmates in Viet Nam. A lot of my mother's family, and some of my father's, were career military. My friend's sons and daughter's were/ are in both the Middle East wars, Desert Storm, and whatever we are calling this one.
I see only the lives lost, or altered forever because of injury, or disease. I see those flag draped coffins, and hear the honor guard gun salute, and wonder why we are yet again, making war.
I understand the USA's role in the world, how we are the safekeeper's of us all, how we fight against genocide and tyranny. But tell me, if we are the world's keepers, how is that in Africa today, there are tyranical governments, committing genocide, and we do nothing. Because the only valuable resource they have is people. No oil. We value oil more than people. I love my country, and the freedoms it provides for me, and I support it. But there must be a better way than one that involves body bags.
"Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passin' gone to flowers everyone." The song says that in time, we forget about war, and it's cost, we forget the graveyards. and young girls come to pick the flowers there, and take husbands who go to war, and die, and go to graveyards, to make the flowers for the generations to come. And so it goes.
Thanks for this question.

war is a part of human life. as long as people have wanted land and wealth there has always been war. most wars have to due with money, very rarely(at least now a days) are they fought to keep the peace or to bring about a REAL change (ie:revolutionary war or the civil war) there are always reasons for war i mean if you have the military might and the money to fight a war there isnt really anything to stop you. the war in iraq was BADLY planned and i think it will haunt US history as a major tactical error.the cons of war as always are the lost lives, the trauma to the soldiers that have seen the horrors of war, God knows its not pretty.

War is bad! Uncivilized! The end does not always justify the means.

Nobody ever 'wins' a war....one side just loses less.
