Hey Velle B

I soooooooooo remember Boet & Saartjie

............ Dit is boet & Saartjie. Hulle is broer en suster. Dit is Buks. Buks is 'n hond.......... hee haaa haaa hee

I use to read them in school, but apparently they have some other curriculum now.

Unfortunately they do not print Boet & Saartjie anymore.
Such a pitty though

I think the schools are using some Buck ('n klein bokkie of iets)

Anyway you must be the only person (besides me) that remembers Boet & Saartjie

That was the first thing I learned to read:
Dit is n mooi huis, wie woon hier?
Boet en Saartjie, ons woon hier. Dit is ons huis.
20 years on and I still remember it like yesterday.
Unfortunately most of these books where scrapped by the new government in favor of more culture friendly books.
If you know anyone who is a teacher back home ask them to check their school book store. Otherwise check websites like Kalahari.net for these books.
But I think this might turn into a search for the Holy Grail, cause most of these books would have been lost.

I SEE YOUR FIRST QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED. YES, I REMEMBER "BOET EN SAARTJIE". USED THEM IN SUB A AT LAERSKOOL UNIVERSITAS. MY SON IS NOW IN GRD2 AT CHARLO PRIMARY, A DUAL-MEDIUM SCHOOL, AND SINCE GRD 1 THEY HAVE BEEN USING READING CARDS IN BOTH ENGLISH AND AFRIKAANS. THE THEMES ARE BASED ON THE DIFFERENT CULTURES, RELIGIONS, THE NEW FLAG ETC THEY RECEIVE A NEW CARD EVERYDAY.

Seems like your Q is answered. What you could also do is ask one of the schools if they still have some of those books.... Just a suggestion
