G'day Pimpin,
Thank you for your question.
There are various polls about horror movies.
Box Office Prophets rate the Shining as the best.

Reel Movie Critic nominates the original version of Psycho directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
http://www.reelmoviecritic.com/20038q/id1973.htm
IGN gives it to The Shining as well.

Epinions rated the 1931 version of Frankenstein as the best.

For mine, its The Shining. The Descent is the best horror film of the past year together with Wolf Creek.
Regards

The Saw triliogy Those are seriously messed up movies and really scary
But the ultimate scary movie for me was The Night of the Living Dead (1968 version is black and white) The idea of being in a cemetary and having zombies come out of the grave and chase me really scares the Hell out of me and ever since I saw that movie 16 years ago when I was ten I will never go near a cemeary after dark and I will never eat chicken legs( if you have seen the movie and saw what the zombies were eating after the truck blew up then you would know what I mean)

I work part-time in a used music & movie store, and the two that have been selling the best in the last few months have been "Hostel" and the new version of "The Hills Have Eyes". Everyone who likes that genre of movie seems to like those. I don't watch them, but I always talk to people and pay attention to what they're buying. The words, "gory" and "gruesome" keep coming up in the descriptions for these movies, but like I said, that's just what I've observed.

by "Out now" im going to assume you mean like in theaters..well basically if you enjoy predictable horror movies with more blood then plot then you should have a good time..Saw III and the Grudge 2 are lame and boring..actually there really are no good horror movies out. go rent the orginal "Halloween" or see the movie the Departed.

My all time favs are 'The Shinning" and 'The Excorsist'. Out of the newer ones I like 'House Of 1000 Corpses' the best. Most of the new horror movies suck bad!

Despite the crappy ending, I'd gave to say the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

My all time favourite is the original Halloween. It might not be the best, but it is at the top of my list. Michael Meyers is a crazy bastard.
