my friend is now being tried for 2 felonies(hit and run & false police report) and he is convinced he will be a convicted felen one way or another. He shouldn't never drove off, but i know he was too scared and i know he didnt think he killed a man at first. I guess he overpaniced, but i know it was not intentional . He gets really good grades in high school and already got accepted to a bunch of universities. He's a really nice guy who would never intentially hurt anyone and has never been in any serious trouble. Now that all this is going on, he thinks its pointless and a waste of money to go to college now because he thinks no one will hire him for a job after he graduates. He's even considering dropping out of high school. I keep telling to stop thinking about what might happen in the future and keep focus on school, but he doesn't care anymore. So do you think its pointless for him to go to college now? What should i say to him to convince him to keep on studying?

He should be concentrating on his upcoming trial. If he is found guilty then higher education won't help his employment chances very much. finding a way to avoid felony conviction should be his first priority.

Yikes! What a tragic story! However, I do know of a young man, 15 yrs old at the time, took his dad's car out for a spin with some friends....he hit an elderly couple crossing the street and killed them both unfortunately, tragically. He did have a very good lawyer, as his father had some money, but the boy went through worry that he was going to jail, that he 'killed someone's grandparents' and that he thought his life was ruined. The family of the deceased couple asked that he better live a very good life to make up for the lives that he took! Give to the community and charities as he can and have many children. They wanted that he grow up to be a good person and that the lives he took and to not add to that waste!
I hope your friend will see this in the same way!!! Good luck, love and peace and prosper always!

There's a labour shortage in Canada, well...Alberta, and they'll hire just about anybody with the right degree or experience or no experience at all. Even ppl convicted of a crime looking for a second chance.
And education is never pointless. Tell him that he may regret it in the futue and it's better to continue with his education than not.

Your friend sounds like he is having a hard time accepting responsibility for a horrible mistake. First off he has to forgive himself which may take sometime, but it is a must. There will be guilt, perhaps you could convince him to seek counseling. And let his attorney take care of his legal responsibilites. And just be a shoulder to cry on. Nothing in life is pointless. Bad things happen to good people all the time. You just have to pick yourself off the ground and carry on with your life. There will always be setbacks but you just have to keep on trying.

your friend is young and can proably get s.i.s on these charges, which means they will not show up on his record after he completes the things the court has him do.
by all means continue his education.i have a felony conviction and i got a s.i.s because i proved my worth.tell him his good grades in school and his ambission to continue his learning will affect the judges decision when he is sentenced.myself i went on to be vet/chemist/usda inspector.and this was after a felony conviction of manufacturing, possession, illegal weapons, assault with intent, and recieving stolen plus distribution.
sure my road was hard and the challenges tough but,the day you become what you set your mind to be and you look in the crowd to see the faces of those who prosecuted you applauding......"Priceless"

tell him that giving up is not an option. it is true that he may not find a good job after convicted, this is why, where i live...recidivism is high. but if he gives up on trying to better himself, he will never know how far he could have made it in life.

Education is like a gift from God.Very few people get it.It's we who should use it in a proper way and have gains from it.It's just an accident forget it as an accident which occured in his life.Tell him to concentrate on his studies and say to stop thinking about it.That's my view...............!
