Where do they get the name Teddy-from the name Edward?

they don't.the name edward was eddie,someone thought they said teddy.

I thought it was Teddy from Theodore, and I think it was "Teddy" Roosevelt who started the whole thing *including teddy bears* but aside from that, I guess folks can use whatever nicknames they want so why not Teddy for Edward?
