i hav the genuine win 2000,my disk cleanup gets stuck on 3%,the same thing happens on every comp i hav with win xp also!

Please close your anti-virus,firewall programmes working. confirm it by viewing all tasks by ctrl +alt+delete once. then you do disk clean , it will work. Some times you may need your OS installation CD also to this cleaning.

Never really works well anyway. The OS is writing to the disk while you're trying to do the cleanup.
I use third party software to do this. They work better anyway.

try disabling all running background tasks. (especially ANYTHING that begins with the word NORTON)
Also, be patient. Start it before you go to bed, and see where it is in tthe morning. You migh just be too impatient.

i had same problem. was my firewall blocking scan disk clean up. now fix
