Well if no one actually asked you out and you told him that someone did, he might have thought that you were going to break up with him, so he was scared to be the one to get dumped, so he dumped you first. but yeah, I geuss it's kinda mean...you should just tell him your sorry and why you did it

If he didn't make you feel loved, maybe you did the right thing inadvertently. If you didn't go out with the guy, I think your boyfriend didn't really love you or he would have stuck around. He may have used it for an excuse to move on. If you did go out on your boyfriend you betrayed a trust that is very hard to get back. However, it was an immature and manipulative thing to do...Learn from it and move on.

It's not your fault the guy asked you out, take pride in it. The guy is a dick if he breaks up w/ you over that. Atleast you told him, and not kept it from him.if anything, he should be mad at the guy not u. But since you lied, he shouldn't be too mad, he prolly wanted rid of you, just didn't have a reason until then. He shouldn't have broken up w/ you over it. Don't get back 2gether w/ him if he asks, because apparently he didn't like you to start w/ if he broke up w/ you for that.

when you told him, did you also tell him that you did not accept the invite? that should have been in the sentence so that he could feel good that you turned down the other guy. if you did not, write him a note and tell him that you did not accept the invite and the only reason is that you care too much for him.....you can not help it if a guy asks you out and he should feel proud that you care about him and refused the other guy hope it works out for you...

No, you shouldn't feel stupid, but be careful how you play with people's emotions. I understand what you were trying to accomplish, but instead of the way you went about it, maybe you should have expressed your feelings with him instead. I don't know how long you were together or how serious the relationship was, but communication will be key in any relationship you are in (with both parites). Take this as a lesson for future experience. My humble advice, don't play with people's emotions.

You shouldn't feel bad about yourself, I mean, if he truly loved you then he wouldn't have dumped you because supposedly some imaginary guy "asked you out". If you told him you AGREED then, he had a reason to freak out. But, if you were just joking or testing him, he shouldn't have judged you, plus you shouldn't feel it was your fault. In fact, you should be happy he dumped you! I mean, it gave you a chance to see truly what a guy he was before anything happened. Don't be down on yourself. If he doesn't have a sense of humor or love you, then he's the one who should feel bad about himslef, not you. Feel better now?

No, good ridence - the guy is an *** hole, If my g/f says that she has been asked out, I would think " great my g/f is in demand " I should be proud of that, but, I should be still on my guards.
The sucker don't trust you - end of the line _ and in a relationship everything is TRUST THE OTHER ONE !!!!
LOVE goes BOTH ways, if one way is broken - gedaan - klaar - finish - over - doomed

Relationships are built on trust. You violated the trust the minute you lied. Then the relationship became something else, just a game you were playing.

Not mean, many people tell each other because they are being honest. I think you were being honest, just make sure you told him that you refused. By your bf telling you that it was over, it seemed like he might be insecure. Don't feel stupid, you just were honest.

sounds to me as though he didn't want to play childish games. no guy wants to hear his girl was asked out, he'll want to know what made him think you'd even be interested. Looks the your ploy backfired!
