Ok, first of all, take out your DVD. Is there a label on it that says "This DVD does not play sound"? If so, then that is your problem. if not, then put it back in your computer, click on the start menu, go to control panel, click on 'sounds speech and audio devices' click on 'sounds and audio devices' click the audio tab at the top, and click 'restore defaults'. close, click on the start menu, go to 'all programs' click on 'acessories', open 'command prompt.' after that has opened, type in 'defrag,' a message box will pop up, click yes.

that should do the trick.

You need to clean the eye in the computer drive that reads the Cd's and DVD's. This should work.

This is likely a codec problem of some sort.
First try using PowerDVD to play your movies rather than whatever it is you are using (media player sucks the worst for these things).
If that doesn't help, try looking for NIMO Codec pack.
