I'm a small in home child care business just staring out and I would like to register my business as an LLC. Is there a free or low cost agency that can assist in in this process?

There are online companies like this one: http://www.incfile.com/ that can do that for you for under $100, or you can do it yourself by visiting your state's "Secretary of State" or Commerce" web site .. here is a link that lists them all:

You don't need a lawyer or a a book to start an LLC. It is super simple, and the taxes are not difficult either, you can use free tax software like taxact.

You just need to fill out some paperwork for your state & city, & pay a fee. The paperwork is generally pretty simple & you can find it on your city & state website most likely.

good luck!

That is a really good question...the best book for all you need to know about registering for an LLC is in the rich dad poor dad book series...check it out on AMAZON.com or ebay and buy it..it goes in to perfect detail on waht you need to do...basiclly...it says in short..if you are going to do it..do it rigth...and dont look for a cheap alturnitive to do it....read the book! it is called Own your own corperation..i just read the other guys answers..the one after me is a good answer..the others are bad...the guys telling you to do it on your own are asking for trouble..this is not something to pinch pennies on..you could lose everything in court if you dont do it right...get the book..i swear..it is the best thing you will buy for your biz....dont do cheap alturnitives! i speak from EXPERIENCE!!!

they are all over the intenet... but take my advise go see an actual law firm that deals with this.. its the only way to be sure that the paper work was filed correctly. Pay a little bit of money for it.. will be worth it in the long run.
