If done in anger or for the purpose of scaring, intimidating, or hurting her...then yes. And, if a can hits her, she can have you charged with assault. And if it breaks her skin in any way, it would be "aggravated assault" or "malicious wounding" - which are both felonies.
If you two can't afford a softball and are therefore forced to play catch using empty beer cans...then no.
