What's the point of producing a movie based on a real life tragedy?
I've seen about 2 others movies about 9/11 at a video store , and Not including "World trade center"
It's done for profit , if it wasn't it'd be Free.

When these movies first started coming out...I thought exactly the same thing. However, "World Trade Center" really touched me and I'm sure if I saw United 93 it would do the same. WTC was so meaningful to me just because it was a real story of two survivors....and the producers worked very hard to relay their story as accurately as possible to millions of people.
I guess these movies affect all of us differently. Although, I do agree with the fact that these movies are being made TOO SOON...cause I mean, come on, its only been five years. But what can we do? It's the media....we can never escape.
I also believe that Nicholas Cage was the WORST pick of an actor for the role. They should have done an unknown.

Well, being a career fireman myself, I have a few things to say in answering your question. First, yes it is wrong for them to make a profit off of a tragedy. However, if they are somehow giving some of the profits to those brave men and women's families then it's for a good cause. Second, the movie people were not the first to gain profit from this tragedy. Let's first look at all the people that claimed they had a part in it to gain money for losses they never sustained. The similar thing also happened after Katrina hit if you really stop to think about it. I guess what I am trying to say is that some people will take advantage of others pain and suffering to make a quick buck and yes it is wrong but we must not mistaken the ones trying to make a difference with the ones trying to make a profit.

Even if the the two movies referring to 9/11 were about to be released in 25 years, it would be AGAIN "too soon" for you.
I saw "WTC" recently and I cannot say that it was the best movie ever. But we have to remember what happened that day even with the help of a movie. Also consider the fact that Oliver Stone is a director who is not afraid to make movies about real incidents that have affected his life and the lives of others. You don't seem to be bothered with "PLATOON" for example that deals with Vietnam and thousands of young American soldiers who died in a war that it was not U.S. business after all. Wasn't Vietnam war a tragedy for you???? Or it doesn't bother you because it happened years ago and maybe you weren't even born yet back then when it happened?????

I can not agree with you. I think it shows a great depiction of what really went on and how affected the families were. My husband and many other peopl i love and care for are in Iraq fighting as a result of that day. Everyone knows it was a tragedy but if the families of the people depicted in the movie were alright with sharing there tragedy you should not care as much. I liked the movie but i guess that is just because i can relate to it more...

i have not seen it yet. it is still to soon for me to see it. but i will eventually. but if no movies were ever made about tragedy's then a lot of people would forget too soon and there would not be movie like the titanic, pearl harbor, platoon, saving private Ryan, gone with the wind and hundreds of other movies. a lot of people in the this world would not even know about these events even happening because some people do not even read books but only see movies and that would be even more sad then watching a movie about a tragedy.

Nothing about Hollywood (or anything else) surprises me anymore. Maybe they donated some of the profit toward a WTC victim charity. I don't know tho.
I went to the top of those towers every single year of my life til they fell. It was always a special place to me, and the events of that day were unspeakable. There have been countless tears, & I just don't see how I'd benefit from paying $9 to watch it all over again. But that's just me. Everyone heals differently.

Have you seen the movie? It's not about the terrorists. The movie is about those two police officers trapped under the rubble. It's their story of survival. It's a very powerful movie. It shows how good can come in the midst of tragedy.

I haven't seen it yet but I was thinking about it. Unfortunately life is full of people making money or getting famous from other peoples tragedies or misfortunes. That's the way the world goes round.

I give it a B-. It is an intense movie and the special effects are big, loud, and very realistic. They don't give you enough time to get emotionally involved with the characters. The intensity out weighs the human aspect unfortunately. Go see it just the same. Also, go to Yahoo! Movies and see all the reviews. Personal ones and Critics. Hope this helps.

You hit the nail right on the head... it is way too soon for an impartial look back at the 911 tradedy. This was just an example of Hollywood bashing Washington and then deciding that it would be OK to try and sqeeze some box office mileage out of our national pain.
