this might be a stupid question but can u have a heart transplant while 15 weeks pregnant

Yes, it is possible. But No, it is not safe for you and the baby. When a person has heart surgery their heart is actually stopped temporarly. It is common to have enough blood loss during and after heart surgeries that require the patient to get blood transfussions. Also with a baby on board it would be pretty probable for the adult body to regect the heart even moreso. This would be a great risk because of all the hormones changing constantly and the body would be apt to reject the heart even more than normal. A heart transplant pt will take at least 15 medications daily for a while to help the body not to reject the heart. This would be detramental on a baby.
If you already are pregnant, visit will your doctor. If they think that your heart is strong enough that you can hold out until after the baby is born that would be great. But if they say your heart is to weak for the pregnancy, then you need to take their advice. Otherwise with your heat giving out it would cost you your life and the babies. These are hard things to consider. Good Luck.

The more important question that you did not ask is can you carry to term and deliver a child if you are in such heart failure that you need a heart transplant, most likely the answer would be no.

You're right! it is a stupid question. If you were in the condition one is in when a heart transplant is needed you would not be on yahoo asking stupid questions!

You'd probably have to ask a Doctor, but I'd say probably not. You wouldn't want your heart to stop anytime while carrying a baby.
