Danny, I noticed from another post that you're only twelve. Why do you want to be circumcised? Is the foreskin not sliding back, or any other problem? Almost every single thing can be relieved without circumcision, or surgery, for that matter. Here's a link where you can read and ask if you have any questions about your foreskin:
http://forums.govteen.com/showthread.php?t=151672
Or is it because most everyone is circumcised? If so, you should really think about it. If it works fine now how can you guarantee that you'll end up happy about it later? As a moderator of an extremely busy puberty/development/health site I've seen a few that regret having it done, such as this guy.
http://forums.govteen.com/showthread.php?t=182875
There's also disadvantages to the surgery, just as with anything:
http://forums.govteen.com/showpost.php?p=3069995&postcount=2
But overall, you're uncircumcised, so you do have the benefit of choosing what will keep you satisfied.

All I'm presenting is that if there's a concern that you have with it, try seeking less invasive alternatives first (for example, it's common for the foreskin to not slide back much at your age, as it is for the head to be really sensitve, but that regulates itself after you start washing it and masturbation, and so the like). Most uncircumcised guys are satisfied with what they have. JackinWorld found the satisfaction rate a little higher than those who are circumcised. I hope this post helps.

And to answer the question, yes, they usually put you to sleep (some just get numbed, but you can ask otherwise) and some pain would be present for a few days, especially during erections. Nothing much different that what some newborns go through.

General anesthesia is very rarely used for "minor" surgery. It costs a lot more than just numbing part of the body, so usually insurance won't pay for you to sleep through it unless they are cutting into a body cavity.
If you get circumcised as a teen, you will lose an important body part, whether or not they put you to sleep! Even in the unlikely event that you are not awake during the procedure, you are in for a lot of pain afterwards. And you will never have to intensity of sexual satisfaction that you would have had if you'd left your body alone. You will also be cheating your future wife of a a lot of pleasure, even if you could sleep through the cutting.
You are perfect the way you are made - don't ruin it!

I don't think so. They will probably keep you awake. If I were you, I would not want it done. The benefits of circumcision are trivial as far as I know. Contrary to popular belief in the US, most of the men in the world are uncut anyway, and they get along well. It seems like such a pointless procedure. It was done to me as a child, but if I had the choice I think I would have left it alone. Good night!
Edit: I am almost certain that they will not put you to sleep during the procedure unless you display some sort of psychotic tendencies. Everyone I've heard who remembers getting circumcised has said they were awake. They keep you awake for dental work don't they? And it would be just as bad for you to move while getting dental work, because the tools they use can mess up your teeth bad or cut your mouth if your head jerks unexpectedly. The doctor who circumcises you (if you go through with it) will use local anesthesia, for sure. But I do not think they will knock you out unless you beg them to do that. Good night!

They will not put you sleep although you will be very sleepy. You won't feel any pain while they perform the procedure. However, you feel uncomfortable or little pain for about a week after the surgery.

Why do you need to be circumcised, Study show now that its more like 60/40 men being circumcised verses none circumcised. When you get circumcised you lose feeling.

Ignore all the bull **** answers you have gotten so far.
You will be given a local anesthesia that will not put you to sleep. You will not feel it but will be extremely sore and uncomfortable for several days after.

Most of the time you only geta local. Have you ever seen a circumcision? The amount of skin removed from an adult male is about 15 square inches!
There is realy no resason to get cut.
Doctors in the US are retarded when it comes to foreskins. They are trained only to see them as problems and attribute a huge variety of maladies to the foreskin from epilepsy (in the late 1800's) to cancer (now :-(
If you have phimosis, it can be cured by stretching excercises and steroid cream.
The only true medical indications for removing the most sensitive part of your penis (because docs like to take away the frenulum too) is CANCER, GANGRENE or FROSTBITE!
just remember...
"A foreskin makes a good shallow woman filter."

Yes.. they put you to sleep and you wont feel a thing until the next day when it will be quite painful when you have to wee... but they will supply you with pain killers.. it only lasts a few days and is then all better.
