Vick has the worst completion percentage of any of those QBs listed. The only QB with a worse rating is Jake Plummer. So admitting that Vick is a great running back, how can anyone claim he is a good or even great QB? He's the most overrated player in the leauge.

Everyone open your mouth and remove it from Vicks genitals. One good game this year throwing the ball, and you want everyone to say he is a great passer. Congratulations he threw 4 touchdown passes, next game he will throw for one or two and everything in the universe will be restored to their natural order. Vick is going to have to string a few of these good passing games together before anyone should seriously start talking about him as a great or even good QB, until he does that he is right below average.

Since I can't respond to my own question...

All of those stats are career. So the fact that Aaron Brooks has played only 2 games this season is irrelevant. Which complaining that I included Brooks because he only played 2 games this season and then to turn around and complain because rookie QBs who have only played 2 or 3 games aren't included makes you look like a fool. Besides, I limited the list to QBs who have been in the league for at least 4 seasons. No, this list is not out of date. First of all, all those stats are up through the current 2006 season. Plus, those 3 QBs who don't start anymore, they started at the beginning of the season. As to why I didn't include the 14 QBs with worse stats, I have limited space to ask a question. As to QBs doing more than just throwing and me not knowing football, I know QBs can also run and hand off the ball. Hell, I'm a Broncos fan and Elway happens to have 50,000+ career passing yards and 3,000+ career rushing yards – NFL Record. And we didn't win a Super Bowl with him till we had a great running break to compliment his amazing passing ability. My point is this, if the QB can barely complete 53% of his passes and has a 75 career rating, he's not a great QB. Now if a guy can run for 100+ yards a game on very few carries, he's a great running back (or receiver). The simple point to the above stats is that Vick is an average QB.

No, he's very underrated these days. If you noticed this week, he called for more passing and set career highs. His problem has been that his coaches put too much emphasis on either run or pass rather than using them together to compliment each other like they did today. He has also suffered from some bad recievers. He has a number of ints but its usually the recievers fault because of a tip or drop. I think this is obvious when his TE is his best reciever. Atlanta has been the best rushing team in the NFL, which means his coaches don't let him pass as much, which means he can't get into a rythm with his recievers. I think with todays performance that will change. Just because he isn't a Peyton Manning style passer doesn't mean he's not an effective QB. QB's do a lot more than complete passes and if thats all you base your QB's on then you don't know much about football. (your list is pretty out of date too. its got 3 QB's that don't even start anymore. Plus you forgot that there are 14 more QB's with worse %'s)

I agree with you from a pure stat view when comparing him overall, but I will also agree with the fans that argue that the style of the game has changed greatly. Johnny U played in a era were the forward pass was still in its infancy and the rules allowed both QB's and WR's to be beat during every Second of the play. Also consider the fact of the none stat factor of Spirit and heart and the ability to win the big game which he did on a regular basis. He does have more championship rings then Marino. Yes even though the stats say he was so-so at best it's like comparing Cy Young and Nolan Ryan both HOF but 2 different era's and different styles of play. By the way how were Unitas stats compared to the other QB's during his era?

You're right...I was just thinking about this the other day. Why in the world do they force Vick into being a QB?! It really makes no sense--he is more like an Antwan Randel El guy--he likes tricky gadget plays, he likes breaking the norm, but he is a VERY average QB. He should be utilized as a multi-talented running back or wide receiver...maybe like LT did last year or something. He had like 3 TDs in the first few weeks...I don't know---but what I DO know is that while he is fun to watch, he isn't what's best for the organization. He makes the Falcons popular, but that isn't going to help them get anywhere in the playoffs when he faces tight D that will stop his scrambles and wild throws.

how could u put brooks on that list he has only played in 2 games this year. plus there are 32 teams in the nfl there are 18 on your list. plus what about guys that have replaced starters. andrew walters matt lienart vince young and probably a couple more. vick is a very agile qb and there team is a running team not a passing team so blame it on the coaches.

He looked pretty good against the Steelers. Threw 4 TD passes and finished with a 96.1 rating. The problem is the system he is in. It doesn't play to his strenghts, and his receivers aren't the great. The addition of Ashley Lelie has helped though.

but hes more athletic than any other qb, also look at his wide receivers his 1st string wr is like most teams 3rd or 4th string wrs, his o-line also has a lot to do with it, tom brady and peyton manning have great o-lines, wide receivers and even great runningbacks to spread the load

he had a 83 passer rating under dan revees, i belive the his coaching is letting him down, management too and mind you all those qbs in front of him have @ least a go to recevier. vick as 3rd and 4th stringers @ best. his best recevier is his TE

the ratins you listed only figure into passing, hence the name "PASSER RATING"

vick adds another dimension by being mobile, which is something he excels at, while being a good QB at the same time
