It doesn't stand for anything!!! All the suggestions that it stood for Knights or Kids in Satan's Service was all a bunch of crap made up by church wives who wanted to rally against a band which teenagers loved, and parents hated.
They wanted to call themselves F*UCK... true! But they felt KISS had a better ring and they wanted something short and simple.

There was an old Urban legend that said it stood for Knights in Satanic Service, but it was just a myth. It doesn't "stand" for anything.

Knight's in Satan's Service is what Gene Simmons claims it was from the beginning, but that didn't come out until later, so noone really knows but the band. Simmons is truly a marketing genious, so my bet is that it was thought up after the band was going.

I don't think it stands for anything. I recall an urban myth when I was a kid that it stood for Knights In Satan's Service

i read the book it actually does not stand for anything they (the group) was in a car throwing out names and one of them do not remember who said kiss and they went ya that's nice and simple and kind of sexy so it stuck.
it's has pretty religious band members gene doesn't do drugs and most of the members are either Jewish or Catholic
