put aside $230.77 every week? is this a trick question?

The easiest way to save this kind of money is to treat saving as a bill. But instead of it being a monthly bill you may need to make it a weekly bill. $230 a week * 52 weeks =$11,960. Take this money and open an account at ING direct www.ingdirect.com it'll gain interest for you there. There are a couple of online banks paying a bit better interest, I've heard good things about them but have no personal experience with them... Amtrust Direct www.amtrustdirect.com is offering over a full percentage point more than ING right now.
I know taking almost a third of your paycheck away will not be easy. But if you're goal is something such as downpayment on a house, or a dream vacation just keep looking towards the goal.
Cut back on unnecessary expenses... when my wife and I started saving the smartest thing we did was stop eating out! When we sat down and looked over our spending habits we couldn't believe how much we were spending on dining out. Also clip coupons... it'll help make grocery shopping more affordable. Don't get sucked into buying in bulk. buy what you need!

well, by that, you make $39,000 a year. not sure if $750 is with or without taxes...im assuming with taxes, so its a clean $39k. living on 27k a year? thats 519 a week, so just save the other $231...so assuming you have a cheap car, an easy house payment, and dont go out to eat every night of the week, it wouldnt be that hard to save up 12k if you watch every penny you spend.
oh, and taxes will bring back a chunk of cash for you as well.

it would depend on how much you have to spend on rent/mortgage/bills/food etc as to how much you can save, 230 a week is a lot but it's not impossible, especially if you are single.

Get a job with dental benefits. Dental schools are cheaper by leaps and bounds. Or move to a US city along the Mexican border and cross into Mexico for your dental work. I have many friends who swear by Mexican dentists.

hard to do unless you can live on 2,000 a month and save a 1,000 per month.... might get some roommates or rent out part of you home for additional funds.....
