Bank tellers are in retail positions so they are going to make what people make working as cashiers and other types of customer service positions. The one good thing is there is possibility for advancement and many banks and credit unions have different levels of tellers (Teller I, Teller II, Teller III) which increase duties and pay. It is a good job to start out and and use as a springboard for your future. I knew a woman who started as a teller and became the bank manager after 10 years of moving through the ranks. We all have to start somewhere so don't listen to the haters out there. :)

I was a teller since 1982 when I started at $162.00 a week . When I retired less then three years ago I was making only $500.00 a week and I was a supervisor. It is a very underpaid job. Besides the normal teller work, cashing checks, makings deposits etc. there is a lot of back up work that you wouldn't believe. If that's not bad enough, you have to sell products and get referrals for other bank products.

I worked as a teller at B of A in Phoenix AZ and I started out at $9 an hour... guess it depends on how long he's been working there.. But tellers generally don't make that much .

My ex-bff's mom was a bank teller, and in 2004, summer, she said her mom made 10,000 a month, because we were telling how much money our parents' made. My mom is a doctor and she made at the time 6,000 a week. So a bank teller makes about 120,000 a year. Not bad at all.

I don't know the amount but I can tell you it's low. I once knew a secretary (entry level) who made more than the tellers. Low. Low.
