i mean, i just wonder why some rate one's answer as thumbs down or thumbs up when obviously the question is under a "polls or surveys" category.. especially when asking ur favorites.. do u think there will be a best answer for that?! I don't think so.. everybody has their own favorites and opinion and should be respected.. Is there anything wrong if ur answer is not same as the answer of the one asking?..

I usually rate all answers, even if they dont' agree with my opinion, especially on an opinion based question by thumbs up.. also I give thumbs up questions for those that actually are unique or intrigue me. I appreciate anyone taking the time to answer my question, I mean, there are tons of questions here so someone picked mine to leave feedback on..
Don't take your question ratings or answers to heart. Some people merely go about and mark answers wtih thumbs down just to past the time, same as you do, about answering them. Ratings cant' be seen as any clear indication of a questions worthiness or responder's credibility. Take a breather and move on.. it's nothing to worry about. Just like their is cruelness off line, there is more online.. the anonymity guarantees that much. Stay sweet, and don't fret.. I've thumbed up your question hoping it will cheer ya up!

According to the Answers Forum, the Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down rating is noted in Yahoo, and the types of questions with Thumbs Down will be not allowed eventually. The fact that stupid people just go through giving Down ratings just hurts everybody. Down ratings should only be given to obscene or racist questions,
repeated postings, and constantly misspelled, etc.

I've used the thumbs down for rude answers and deliberately wrong answers as that is rude and disrespectful. but i give a thumb up to let people know someone likes there favorite what ever or if they gave a really good insightful answer. I don't do it for every answer or question i see it has to be a extreme normally really bad/really good for me to rate.

yeah i agree, i dont understand why anybody would thumbs down someones OPINION or favorites. thats just dumb but if they say something rude go ahead and give um a thumbs down.
