I hang out with my buddies because they're funny and I work with them, but when it comes to watching sports I don't know how to meaningfully contribute to any conversation. I'm still at the point of asking things like "what is a two point conversion" and stuff like that. They seem to know lots of things about players, for example, which I am clueless about. When watching sports, say for example a football game, what things should I be looking out for? What do most people enjoy about watching a game? How do you talk about it?

Firstly, be open about the fact that you don't know a lot about sports, don't try and pretend to know things you don't. Big sports fans will see right through that and probably get a good laugh out of it at your expense.

Secondly, make it clear to your friends that you are interestd in sports and would like to learn more. Feel free to ask them questions at games, even if you think it's a dumb question. Don't be afraid to ask something like, "Okay this might be a dumb question, but I'm just trying to learn, (insert rest of question here)" I know from personal experience that I always loved trying to teach sports to someone who didn't know much about it.

if you do not know much about a sport or players of the sport, just do a little research on the internet and pay attention to what is going on in the game, learn the rules and you soon will be able to contribute.

just watch and a 2 point conversion is when they try to score from the 2 yard line on 1 play instead of getting the extra point.

Get interested first in what sports you want to talk about. That's the only thing you need. It's very hard to learn something you are not highly interested in and it's not natural to be talking about it when your head is not really into it.

ok im a girl and i love this..what u look for is how they set up their plays and how the defense is set up too..(offense-the one with the ball, defense-the one protecting their side)..just look at that. pay attention at the ones who are talking and youll learn. when the QB throws the ball look at the open recievers; theyre the ones who make the touchdowns. umm...lets see...see how the defense make their blitz and try to attack the QB. thats practically their main goal. attack the QB before he throws the ball. also look at how they try to block the reciever and try to intercept the ball. idk what else to tell u but i hope i helped a little.

take it easy.youll get it.
