MLK,Jr. represented an entire RACE of people which, at the time was a very volitile situation. Rev. King not only was a peaceful man in what seemed to be a war-like situation in the country, he also fought for true freedom for black people. (I'm white) I admire the man and his loss is a great tragedy to this day - that is why there is a day set aside for remembrance of this hero. Yes, Harvey Milk was a true fighter for gay rights. Unfortunately, he was not as high profile ans Rev. King. I never heard of Mr. Milk until his death. If I were more involved more in the gay community, I might feel more like you. I live on the East Coast. I agree that our children should be taught acceptance of all types of people... race, religeon, sexual preference, and so on. Hope this will help.
