New PC always have network adapter built in, don't know if your old PC have network adapter or is network capable.

If they are, peer-to-peer networking is the fastest way to do this, all you need is shared the drive of the old PC, have the new PC connect to the old one by clicking on the My Network Neighborhood. Which by the way my assumption is you have network adapter on the old PC as you are surfing on broadband.

If no network available, second best way to do this is to use a RS-232 cable, then download shareware program that will do peer-to-peer transfer, Total Commander [shareware] have the plugins for using serial cable to do peer-to-peer, this is the second fastest and second easiest.

Third is to remove the hard disc from the old PC, install this to the new PC and copy file.

Last but doable are;
Use Thumbdrive, copy the file to thumbdrive back and forth, may take time but get the job done.

Least recommended is to burn CD, as the time its takes is longer than the thumbdrive.

There are many ways to do this. If both computers have an Ethernet port then you can use a cross cable to connect them both and transfer data. If both computers are connected to the same network via a router, then you can access the files of either computer on that network. You can use a sub drive to transfer the data, or you can buy an SD card or any other flash memory card and a card reader to transfer the files. You can also get an external hard drive and just transfer everything off of that computer. You can also take the hard drive out and put it into your new computer making it a slave drive or master (depending on your cable and jumper settings). after doing this you can just copy the files. You can also get blue tooth adapters on both computers and transfer files wIreless, or it can also work with ir adapters. you can also use the Internet to upload your files and download them: some websites to do this is sendthisfile.com

Good luck!

If both computers have an Ethernet port in the back (basically looks like a phone jack only slightly longer) you could buy an ethernet crossover cable to transfer files between the computers quickly. You may use the cable again in the future; it may not be a bad investment. It's very important, however, that you get a -crossover- cable. This Microsoft link looks very helpful.

Well, you should really have a flash drive. You could then transfer the pics and music onto the flash drive and move them over, and when you have finished, you'll have a flash drive for times like this...

Or, you could put the cd burner of the new comp into the old comp, burn the files onto cd, then move the cd burner back to the new one.

Or, you could hook the old one up the the internet, email some to yourself, hook the new one back up and retrieve them, repeat...

Or, you could by a storage space on line and upload them to that and then hook up the new one and get 'em off the site...

But a flash drive is better, even if it is only a 64 mb one....

If your old computer has a network card, you can connect the two computers together with a crossover cable.

This page has some information about a file transfer utility in XP.

it's very simple actually. either hook up a usb from computer to computer(not very easy) or burn the music and photos to a data disk(a bit easier) but what i recommend is pluging in a flash drive, and drag and drop files into the my computer section under USB mass storage device

your best option here is to get a jump/flash drive this is a protible stick that just inserts into your usb port you put your files on it and poof move it to your new computer and move the files to there new location if you dont have meny files or a low budget to do this you can also use flopy disks as long as your new and old computer have a flopy drive some of the newer modles dont have them as they are getting quite out of date

easy or cheaper. you could upload your photos to yhaoo photos and then download them onto your new computer. but it will take time depending on how many photos you have. otherwise buy a cheap cd burner and put it in your old computer burn the stuff onto cd's. when you are done put the new cd burner into your new computer. should only cost maybe 20 bucks or so

with windows, there is files and settings transfer wizard, on your new computer, in the start menu, go to accesories, then system tools, look for files and settings transfer wizard, click it, it will give you directions from there! good luck!
