I think we are hated by the rest of the world because we are so big and powerful-yet so stupid. I Iove America and would never considering living anywhere else. However, Americans are so self centered and GREEDY! We are also bossy and want to tell the rest of the world what to do and when they don't do it we condemn them and label them as evil. We need to understand that the rest of the world run their countries based on religion. So by us trying to change them we are in essence insulting their religion and their way of life. We have WAY too many problems here to be trying to perfect everyone else. Our inner city schools are horrible. And we have starving and malnourished children flooding our streets. But, politicians are so hell bent on giving aid to other countries and not helping ourselves.

Jealousy ? No way !!!! Sorry, but i live in London, have a descent job, live my life happy and i don't go around thinking that my country OWNS the world. And if you call bailing out a country when you go all guns blazing, steal the oil and leave chaos (more than under Saddam), sorry, i call that an invasion. I thought you were civilized people ? All this sounds like Vietnam 2. When you look at G.W.Bush, not really surprised ! I have nothing against American citizens, it's like everywhere, there are good people and idiots. Oh by the way, there is a treaty for the rights of children, funnily enough, America is one of the only countries that hasn't signed it. Makes you think, doesn't it ?

You question reminds me of that old Randy Newman song. Nuke everything but we should save Australia because they have great surfing and well, we like Kangaroos, don't we? LOL
Do Americans really care why America is hated?
Take any community as an example- not the world community- but any community- Nobody likes the richest guy on the block with the biggest toy and if he doesn't agree with what you say or do- he's liable to lob a couple of major size spit wads over your fence or through your window.
At one time, not too many people cared for the Romans at the height of their empire. They too tried and exported their values, their laws, their ideas of commerce, their art, their sports to other countries. And as a result- they weren't too well liked. I think the Mongols fall in this category too though they were more into pillaging- didn't make any bones about either- than exporting their way of life.

Well since I was born and raised in Europe and all my blood relatives are European, I believe that I have some insight. Americans are partly right when they say it is jealousy. I have witnessed it first hand way before I ever set foot in the USA. I once heard a guy go off like a maniac about the Americans I thought he was going to start foaming at the mouth(that was back in the early eighties). Another thing I have now noticed is that Europeans have an intense "Can't do attitude" and the Americans have a "can do" attitude. I sometimes find myself losing patience with my European relatives and friends and pushing them into action whereas they would have remained passive. I think that they feel a little bullied but their problems get solved. If it was left to them they would have just made a mental list of obstacles and then mulled over them instead of trying to solve them. I used to think that things were more impossible than they really are, I also now have the "can do" attitude. They interpret that self-assurance as arrogance.
Petty Girl, you don't get to be big and powerful by being stupid. Being uninterested enough to not know certain things does not make one stupid. Americans are anything but stupid, reading Camus or Sartre does not automatically make you intelligent nor does learning the capital of every country by heart.

No they probably dont, but you only have to look at some of the answers given on here by the burger munchers to see why America is so hated in the first place, nothing more than a bunch of inbred, loud mouthed arrogant fuckwits. Lets not forget this is a country who killed its own president because he was trying to curtail the abuses of power of a government agency put it place to protect its citizens.
You want more examples? you only have to watch the WWE on satellite TV and watch 50 or 60 thousand dimwits foaming at the mouth watching a bunch of steroid popping halfwits pretending to hit each other while holding up banners and chanting USA USA USA, the small number of Shermans with more than 2 brain cells must be so proud to see that.

I am not american , but I will respond to some answers here:
Jealousy?? for being able to borrow money from China and other asians to wage your losing battles in afganistan and iraq??
Democracy: you brought democracy to iraq at a great cost to yourself , at the cost of 1000s of your young soldiers. Why are your soldiers getting bumped off in iraq?? why the iraqis want you out as soon as possible?? you know well that if you leave now ( you lose face as well .. if there is anything to lose now ) that democratic govt is going to fall in no time.
what about bringing colourfull revolutions to old soviet states to topple democratic govts?? what about Hamas??
Peace : its a laugh. why are people willing to die just to take out a few of your lucky citizens??
You ignorent americans just note that your time is almost up. You
lost in Vietnam. Now you will lose in iraq. then they will bring the war to your own home.
why did you tough americans scurried like rats on 911?? seeing the american fire power on TV is one thing and really being under fire is different , eh???
Oh , and we saw how americans live well after hurricane Katrina , on TV .You help the world a lot but not your own citizens???

There you are . You have it in black and white. The automatic response is "We are so wonderful, so kind, so generous. We have helped so many nations, we have bailed them out so many times. We are God fearing and believe in the rights of man. We are wealthy and they are jealous. We attach importance to major things like oil. The rest of the world is populated by idiots, therefore we could not care a toss about their opinion. We are doing what we consider the right thing and they can lump it because we are in the right and they are ignorant. They do not deserve us. They all want to come here because life is better and since they can't they they malign us."
Just listen to yourselves...
Even though it took Pearl Harbour to get you going, you did finally intervene in the second world war and Europe was grateful. I spent my childhood in UK and France and you were admired and liked, but you have not let anyone forget what you did and are still shoving it down the world's throat sixty years later. You have then assumed it was your God given right to put the rest of the world to rights. I lost my fiance because he happened to be working in the US and he was sent to fight in Vietnam (although he was a British subject) in a barbaric war that cost you so many young men and served no purpose. Now you have done it again in Irak where, far from giving them the freedom you thought they wanted, you have opened an unsurmountable can of worms and generated a situation whereby innocents are killed daily .Some liberation! Would you have done it if there had not been oil there? What about the non-existent weapons of mass destruction that were used as a pretext? Who was gullible enough to believe the lies that were told?
Those of you who are sufficiently wealthy have travelled to other countries and especially to Europe precisely because of the culture you found there and you rarely go un-noticed because you are often loud and flashy. You make very little effort to learn other nations' languages because you expect the world to learn yours. You are very happy to let into your country scientists, engineers, celebrated personalities in the arts etc.. and enjoy the products of their knowledge and their skills but when it comes to poor uneducated people, they can stay in their flea pit.
On your home ground you are pleasant enough with "Have a good day!" but this is a veneer and you often fail to help your own when they are in difficuties. You stick with your nearest and dearest and ignore those who do not share your particular brand of culture or religion. You are quick to see the straw in your neighbour's eye and ignore the beam in yours. Some of you may live in mansions and have an affluent life, but so many are in need, on the bread line and cannot afford medical treatment.
It is not so long ago that blacks were outcasts in your country, and your memory is very short when it comes to what was done to native Americans.
Our hearts went to you at the time of 9/11 and we all felt a deep horror for those that attacked you on your home ground. Britain has followed you in the subsequent endeavours to overcome terrorism, but you are not grateful for their support and the boot is on the other foot...The world has seen what some of your soldiers did to prisoners in Irak and that was hardly edifying.
It is comforting to see one or two honest people in the above posts that identify exactly what causes the dislike you are now generating world wide instead of the admiration your nation used to generate. By the way the rights of man at the heart of your constitution are not your invention but that of the French, a nation that you openly despise...
No nation is perfect, and in the end it comes down to the attitude and behaviour of individuals.

because America is a bit over zealous in wanting the world to enjoy the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. Forced democracy is not the democratic way. I the currents riffs around the world, it seems that we say one thing then do another.
