It's cyclobenzaprine (generic Flexeril), a muscle relaxant not a sleeping pill. It relaxes muscles and relieves pain and discomfort associated with strains, sprains, spasms or other muscle injuries.
An overdose may include drowsiness, fast or irregular heartbeat, enlarged pupils, seizures, and loss of consciousness.

Don't take it if you are taking cimetidine, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine), anti-allergy drugs, drugs used for asthma, cough-and-cold medicines.

Your mother-in-law might mean well but she's not a doctor and shouldn't be handing out prescription medication. She doesn't know what she's doing. She's giving you a muscle relaxant and hoping you develop one of the known side effects.

You should never take a pill that you haven't been advised to take by a doctor or pharmasist. I do not know that particular pill but I am sure that your local pharmasist will know. If you are having troubles sleeping there are wonderful herbal tea's available at health food store that are all natural and safe to use. Good luck!

If you need a sleep aid take a couple of benadryl or other cold medicine. These are ususally the first option your doctor will suggest if you talk to him about sleeplessness.

Don't take anyone else's prescriptions meds, you don't know how you will react, you don't know how old they are, how strong they are, how they will interact with anything you usually take. etc. Take the cold meds.

P.S. My mother-in-law is one of my best friends, so ignore the ignorant catty remarks. Mom-in-Laws can be great!

Good Luck!

I can't believe you would take any medicine from your in-law. Especially when they don't know what it is.
