player's do not wear them because the full visors fog up a lot.. Not to mention the skewed vision you get from wearing them. Why do you think Mats Sundin doesn't wear the one he had when he had a severe eye injury last year? Even in the cases of guys with broken jaws, you see a huge decline in their stats when they have the visors on.

I've always wondered about that..but some of them wore these when the got some sort of injury like Joe Sakic (in the olympics) & Curtis Brown (last year with Chicago) for a little amount of time..
All I know that when I play I wear the full visor...It's safer...I'm not pro so I don't want to lose a teeth or an eye or even get cut...I all i want to do is have fun..

Because they aren't "cool" and according to myth, they're unmanly. You need to remember the roots of hockey. It's a blue-collared sport that was played by miners, construction workers, factory workers and the like. These are "manly men" who never wore any kind of head/face protection and you can tell with those old-school players. Crooked noses and missing teeth from taking a puck or two in the face. Until the NHL requires full face protection for players, you'll never see full face visor on 100% of players. There are some that have brain cells left that do wear them.

If I could ditch my cage I'd do it in a heartbeat. And I'm not a miner or a factory worker. LOL
It's really hard to see with stuff in front of your face, and in hockey peripheral vision, including down at your feet (where the puck often winds up) is really important.
I've never used a plastic visor or combination, but everyone I know who has them - including pros - complain about them being hot and fogging up, like others here have.
Still, if I could wear a half shield in my league (which I can't), I probably would. I hate not being able to see.

You can't even get a lot of the guys to wear the half visor, good luck with a full visor.
They are hot, foggy, hard to see thru, glare and so on. And of course uncool, then again losing your eye sight from a stick to the eye is uncool, just ask Bryan Berard (hes lucky he was able to get his vision back).
Plus if you initate a fight in the NHL if you are a player who wears a visor you get an extra penatly or tossed from the game I don't recall which.

did you know that goalies didn't start wearing a mask till the 50's and there were only a hand full that did. Jacques Plante of the Montreal Canadiens was the won that popularized the mask in the 50's but some 30 years before that Clint Benedict was the first to wear a mask for a hockey game and yes he was a goalie too.

Cause they have better view of the rink. Full face visors are recommended cause it's safer. Saku Koivu is a perfect example from last years playoffs of why you should wear a full face visor.

For me, vision was the reason I removed my visor/mask. I could see a lot better without a mask, and when i had the full visor it would steam up and stay wicked hot.
