Master the fundamentals and maintain discipline at all times. Most long term winners are very selective about the hands they get involved with (folding about 90% of the time), then become very aggressive once they've entered the pot. http://www.ModernGrinder.com has some great articles on the basics of Texas Hold'em as well as some advance strategy tips.

I love texas hold em more than any other poker. the strategy depends of what game u play, there are limit holdem and no limit. u can't put a very heavy pressure to ur opponent in limitpoker, it has a good side and a bad side. in contrary, u can put a biiig pressure on ur opponent in a no limit game, but u also can lose biiiig time. so, well, if u really want to learn poker, u better do some research before u enter a real game. here's a poker tips i still hold on until now, underplay a good hand, and overplay a bad hand.

With either game, the simplest and (depending on the game)most effective strategy is simply to wait for better cards. For any novice player, the biggest problem they will find is they want to play in every hand (its more fun) and dont realize when they are most likely beat. By being fairly conservative, and not trying to be too tricky, against players who are roughly the same skill level, just playing really strong hands will be sucessful often enough.
The other skill that goes along with this, is knowing what games are good for you, not everyone can play for lots of money and not everyone can play with really good players. In general if you just played for money you could lose comfortably against the worst players at that level youd probably do fine, but this is harder than it looks.
Until you learn better, fold more than play, and try to play good cards. Find the easiest and cheapist game you can find and try and figure out whats going on.
