you cannot own a 100% wolf. you can however purchase a wolf-hybrid...depending upon the state you live in. some states only allow a certain percentage of wolf to dog ratio...like 85% wolf 15% dog. some states don't allow them at all. i used to raise wolf-hybrids many years ago. mine were 98% tundra wolf. very large...up to 200 lbs.
you should really do a lot of research...these are pack animals and you have to be the alpha member of the pack...aka the boss. you can't just treat them like a dog. they also require a lot of socializing before they're 4 months old. and choose a very reputable breeder or you can really have some problems. i prefer female wolf-hybrids...they are much better with children...in my opinion. i've had them live to be 20+ years old.
do a google search for breeders and training info. also check with you state animal control policies.
if you can't get a wolf-hybrid, try a malamute. they're very wolf-like.
hope this was helpful ;)

In most states and cities, it is illegal under one set of laws or another.
I have known many people with wolf hybrids, and I know that a support group exists for them.
I also know that many states passed rules against them after owners have been badly mauled. The numbers of people attacked by their pet wolves (or high ratio hybrids) is almost equal to the number of people who own them.
Exotic animal pets ARE NOT A GOOD IDEA!

Generally speaking you will find that the people who own Wolves and other such exotics do so becuase they have low self esteme and think having this kind of pet makes them "cool" or gets attention for them...
a really cool person is the guy who owns the 3 legged old dog down the street from you... the people that take exotics and try to turn them into "pets" are not animal lovers...

Well sort of they can only be a certain percentage of wolf...I am not exactly sure what percentage is I believe it is up to 90 something percent wolf but I am not sure...you could do some more research to find out...as far as finding one look on google or yahoo for breeders or search puppyfind.com.

You could more than likely have a wolf, but you would have to get it as a pup, and check with the APCA in your area.

No, it is not legal, and if you are on here asking about owning one, than you are definitely NOT qualified to own one. Why not get a husky or malamute and pretend it is a wolf.
