They have the money to hire the best lawyers, many a poor person has been convicted by a prosecutor that thinks more about a conviction then to find the truth. The state has unlimited resource and can call many experts to the stand to confuse the issue and the poor cannot afford their fee's. Then there is also that the system is somewhat corrupt.

AFAIK the entire world is controlled by the rich.
Even Scandinavia's ancient everyman law is being eroded to favor industry.

The whole world is controlled by the money, always has been,always will be; can't think of any type of major power, private or government, that doesn't involve wealth.

Same as with any country... Some get rich, Most stay average, or poor.
