This is for a close friend who just lost her husband. When my mother in law passed someone had some roses from her funeral preserved and put in a glass container, its beautiful. I'm trying to find out how to do it or somewhere to take flowers to be fixed before they wilt.

If it were me, I would use Teleflora, which is a service that uses various florists all over the country. Call your local florist, tell them you need to use that service, and they will go through theTeleflora service to contact a florist in the town where the funeral is. The reason I use it is that they guarantee the flowers to be of good quality. It's not like some of the "on line" floral services, which are really expensive. I don't know where you are, but they will try to accommodate you with something that is appropriate for the occasion, but also in season for the region you live in (that cuts the cost a little). Also, you might want to think about either a blooming plant like an azalea of a gloxinia. Those are always attractive and are available most of the year. Cut arrangements can get very pricy, and they don't last. The azalea can be put into her yard.

Dry them out very well first...upside down-outta the sun & just before full bloom seems to keep them more sturdy.
I've used clear urathan(sp) spray that works pretty well. Not sure bout wax dipping. Ask a craft or floral shop maybe. Gd Luk.
p.s. you can also try pressing to use in a shadow bx.
