Just got a used dryer with a 4 prong cord. The wall receptacle outlet receives 3 prongs only; is there a converter invented to plug inbetween both of them? Or do I have to replace the receptacle? Thanks.

Both plugs are 220. The easiest way is to replace the plug itself. You can buy the 3 prong type from any hardware store, just go in and tell them. It will come with the wires and the plug in one piece and it is relatively simple to switch out.

Have an electriction look at it. I have rewired parts of my house but you are dealing with 220, this will kill you if done wrong. Dryer runs hot, frequent source of fires, need it wired correct, you are most likley having the washer right beside it, water is near,
220 + heat from dryer + water + incorrect wiring = dead

FYI.....They both may be 220,but look on the plug to read the amp rating.

If you are not damn sure please bring it to someone who know their trade
It seems to me you have a 3 phase appliance
and you are trying to plug it into a single phase socket
NEVER TRY IT
or it will spitfire on you
