One end of the pickle will glow. It really works, I've tried it myself. I'm not sure what the minimum voltage / current is required to achieve this but I do know that standard 120 volt AC current from a wall outlet in the USA will do the trick. Do NOT attempt this unless supervised by adults!!!!!! It is dangerous to play with electricity!!!!

Pickle will warm up a bit depending on amount of current and voltage loss across pickle. If it is DC current you might get some electrolysis.

if the wires running the current are seperated the pickle will illuminate and cook at the same time. at least if your using 110V i dont know about any less . never tried anything but 110

the pickle starts to glow and starts to shrivel up but it goes extremely hot so don't touch it
