Yes. It charges faster off. When a cell phone is powered on it periodically communicates with the nearest tower, which takes energy. The reason behind periodic contact is simple, a missed call or text message needs to be transferred if the handset is on the move. However, the difference in going from dead battery to fully charged battery, whether phone off or on probably wouldn't be noticeable.

You don't need to drain the battery completley anymore, those were nickel cadmium batteries that had memory. All cells today have Lithium ion batteries, no memory. No bad habits will ruin them, BUT, they all pretty much stop taking a charge after two years, just in time for a new phone anyway... YAY!!

Most people charge their phones before going to bed. That is a wrong approach. What you should really do is totally kill the battery, then charge it.

I tried that, but I really didn't see a difference.
consult your owner's manual, dude.
My wife and I charge ours overnight, so we don't really care how long it takes, right?

Good Luck buddy
