The light in my aquarium is set for 12 hours only using a timer. Yesterday there was power outage and the timer was reset. I want the lights on during the day and switched off at night.

yes depending on what kind do you have the instructions?

It depends on what kind of timer it is. A standard appliance timer usually has indicators for on/off that are set to the appropriate times. Set the timer's clock to the correct time, and set the on/off indicators to the times you wish the light to turn on & off.

I shopped around for this and found that a timer at Walmart ($15.00) was cheaper than the timer/outlet that Petsmart sells ($30.00). They work just the same. You can get ones with multiple outlets too. You find them in the hardware/security section.
