I thought it was Eliabeth Bathroy(sp) from Tranyslvania..an alleged true vampire..bathed in the blood of virgins. About the 16th century..I think.
But rarely hear this mentioned...so not sure if that's a real story.

I'm not sure about world history but the first American Serial Killers were the Harpes in 1828.

Here's the link to the site

In case you haven't read the article on Elizabeth Bathory from the crime library here it is as well...

You could put around the serial killer site,
http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/history/index.html

but so far I think Vlad the Impaler might just be the oldest (it dates back to the 1400s.)

P.S.

Excellent website overall, but it doesn't tend to get a bit creepy reading about serial killers when its night and you're alone...

Happy hunting!

because the degree of "worst" might want to be in accordance with what they did top-rated as a lot because the deaths, i might want to say Ted Bundy by using severe style (they don't even comprehend what number he killed yet maximum likely one hundred+) of sufferers and his manipulation and harsh concepts of killing them. He replaced right into a carry close manipulator and a woman's guy - a foul mixture for a serial killer.

It depends on when "modern history" starts.

Technically, the term "serial killer" was coined either by FBI agent Robert Ressler or by Dr. Robert D. Keppel in the 1970s and it was Ted Bundy who got the title.

t depends on what you mean by modern history and what you mean by serial killer. I would suggest Jack the Ripper in the late 19th century because he (or she) was so well known.
